The NTPS TM Control Room gets upgraded
For the past three years the NTPS TM control room has been an effective, but not very impressive arrangement of TM equipment. Multiple receivers, TM antenna controllers, and PCs were used in the corner of a large open bay, partitioned with “cubicle” dividers. The room is used in conjunction with the school’s TM equipped Impala to provide control room training to Flight Test Engineer and Test Pilot candidates. Typical projects include a loads envelop expansion project and a spin clearance project.
The control room is being totally enclosed with dedicated electrical power, raised floors, and dedicated environmental control. The room will be arranged so that the Test Conductor station will be able to oversee the other engineering stations. In addition, the room will be equipped with its own intercom and dedicated radios. Construction is scheduled to be complete by the end of April in time to support the T&E 4205, Advanced Flight Vehicle Structures and Loads Theory and Flight Test Methods.
