Systems Professional Course

Course Description

The Systems Course is aligned with the Test Pilot and Flight Test Engineer Professional Course.  Pilots and engineers in this course attend the same academic classes and fly many of the same exercises as the students in the applicable portion of the Professional Course. Emphasis is placed on FAA/EASA regulations and military standards for piloted aircraft.  Safety in flight test is stressed in all aspects of the courses.

 
The Systems Flight Test Course is 24 weeks long.  The course is held each year from January to June.  Throughout the course there are multiple student-planned projects addressing all of the main systems taught.  There are nine modules in the course, which are the same for either fixed or rotary wing:

T&E 4001 Introduction to Flight Test

T&E 4206 Weapons Integration

T&E 4201 Intro to Avionics and Weapons Systems

T&E 4207 Electro-Optic and Infrared Systems

T&E 4202 Communications, Navigation, and GPS

T&E 4208 HMD & NVG Testing

T&E 4203 Civil Avionics Certification

T&E 4205 UAV Systems Testing

T&E 4204 RADAR and Electronic Warfare

 

 

Pre-requisites

Pilots: A minimum of 750 hours of pilot-in-command time and a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent military academy) in math, science, engineering or related subject plus medically qualified to perform flight duties.

 

Engineers: A bachelor’s degree in math, science or engineering (or equivalent military academy) plus medically qualified to perform flight duties.

 

All Students: English language proficiency is required as all courses are tauht in English. Non-native English speakers must pass a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).
