The NTPS RPV module introduces our flight test students to remotely piloted vehicle (RPV) flight test techniques (FTT) and test procedures.  The course uses an FAA approved C-150 Optionally Piloted Aircraft (OPA) with a safety pilot on board.  Control of the aircraft is passed from the safety pilot to the Ground Control Station after the OPA climbs over 500 feet above ground level.  The RPV Module focuses on how to apply previously learned P&FQ and Systems flight test techniques to an air vehicle and system that is being piloted or controlled remotely.  Additionally, the OPA is fully integrated into the NTPS TM room allowing other students to manage the complex FTT missions from a segregated control room as the Test Director.
